Annual Electricity Concession

The Annual Electricity Concession is available to help ease cost of living pressures by providing concession cardholders with a discount.

You are eligible for this rebate if you hold any of the below concession cards:

  • DVA Gold Card
  • Health Care Card (HCC)
  • Pensioner Concession Card (PCC)
Concession amount 

What is the concession amount?

17.5%* off electricity bills. If your total bills exceed $2882 for the year (between 1 December – 30 November), you will need to apply for the Excess Electricity Concession
*Not applicable to the first $171.60.

Controlled Load Concession

What is it 
What is it?

The Controlled Load Electricity Concession provides a discount on controlled load usage charges. The concession is applied on bills issued throughout the year and is only available to concession cardholders who are charged a controlled load tariff for separately metered electric hot water or slab heating.

 Am I eligible

You are eligible for this rebate if you hold any of the below concession cards:

  • DVA Gold Card
  • Health Care Card (HCC)
  • Pensioner Concession Card (PCC)

AND

Have a Controlled Load Electricity Meter/Register.

13% rebate on Controlled Load usage charges.

Excess Electricity Concession

What is it 
What is it?

The Department of Human Services introduced this Concession to address fraud and misuse of the Annual Electricity Concession and to ensure that it is better targeted to those most in need of assistance.

You are eligible for this rebate if you hold any of the below concession cards:

  • DVA Gold Card
  • Health Care Card (HCC)
  • Pensioner Concession Card (PCC)
Concession amount 

What is the concession amount?

Approved customers will continue to receive 17.5%* off electricity bills.

*Only applicable to electricity bills which have exceeded $2725 per year (1 December 2016-30 November 2017)

How do I apply 
How do I apply?

  1. Contact us at Lumo Energy and we can identify if you need to apply for the Excess Electricity Concession. If so, we will provide you with an application form.
  2. Submit a completed application to the Department of Health and Human Services.
  3. The department will check your eligibility and advise Lumo Energy if you are eligible. We will calculate the Excess Electricity Concession and apply the rebate to your energy bills.

Recipients of the Life Support Concession and/or the Medical Cooling Concession are exempt from the need to apply for the Excess Electricity Concession and are not required to lodge an application form in order to receive the concession.

 



Excess Gas Concession

The Department of Health and Human Services introduced the Excess Gas Concession to address fraud and misuse of the Winter Gas Concession and to ensure that it is better targeted to those in most need of assistance.

You are eligible for this rebate if you hold any of the below concession cards:

  • DVA Gold Card
  • Health Care Card (HCC)
  • Pensioner Concession Card (PCC)
Concession amount 

What is the concession amount?

Approved customers will continue to receive 17.5%* off gas bills between 1 May and 31 October

*Only applicable to gas bills which have exceeded $1518 per year.

  1. Contact us at Lumo Energy and we can identify if you need to apply for the Excess Gas Concession. If so, we will provide you with an application form.
  2. Submit a completed application to the Department of Health and Human Services.
  3. The department will check your eligibility and advise Lumo Energy if you are eligible. We will calculate the Excess Gas Concession and apply the rebate to your energy bills.

Recipients of the Life Support Concession and/or the Medical Cooling Concession are exempt from the need to apply for the Excess Gas Concession and are not required to lodge an application form in order to receive the concession.

Group Home Concession

What is it?

The Group Homes Concession for electricity and Group Homes Concession for gas are provided on domestic properties run by welfare organisations, or by the Department of Human Services, where the residents of the house are concession card holders that are responsible for paying the energy accounts, however the name of the organisation is on the bill.

Concession amount

Life Support Concession

What is it 
What is it?

This concession provides a quarterly discount on electricity and/or water bills where a household member uses an eligible life support machine. This concession is available to both renters and homeowners all year round.

 Am I eligible
Am I eligible?

You are eligible for this rebate if you hold any of the below concession cards:

  • DVA Gold Card
  • Health Care Card (HCC)
  • Pensioner Concession Card (PCC)

AND

A resident of the household uses any of these machines:

  • Intermittent Peritoneal Dialysis Machines (electricity)
  • Oxygen Concentrators (electricity)
  • Haemodialysis Machines (electricity and water)
Concession amount 

What is the concession amount?

The rebate amount is equal to the cost of 1880 kWh of electricity used equally divided per quarter (470kWh).

Medical Cooling Concession

What is it 
What is it?

This concession provides a 17.5% discount on summer electricity costs for cardholders where a member of the family has a medical condition that affects the body's ability to regulate temperature.

 Am I eligible
Am I eligible?

You are eligible for this rebate if you hold any of the below concession cards:

  • DVA Gold Card
  • Health Care Card (HCC)
  • Pensioner Concession Card (PCC)

AND

You have one of the below conditions:

  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Lymphoedema
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Post-polio syndrome/poliomyelitis
  • Motor Neurone Disease.

Service to Property Concession

What is it 
What is it?

This concession provides a discount on the electricity service charge where a household has very low electricity usage. It is only applicable if your total electricity usage is LESS than your Service to Property charges.

The discount reduces the service charge to the cost of the total electricity usage for the billing period.

If your usage charges are less than your Service to Property charges, you may be eligible for this concession. 

Concession amount 

What is the concession amount?

The rebate reduces the Service to Property charge to the cost of the total electricity usage for the billing period. For example: Service to Property Charge - Total Electricity Usage = Concession rebate.

If you have applied for the Annual Electricity Concession already, this will be applied to your bill automatically if you’re eligible. You do not need to apply for this concession type separately.

If you do not receive the Annual Electricity Concession, contact us at Lumo Energy and we can determine if you are eligible.

Winter Gas Concession

What is it?

The Winter Gas Concession is available to help ease the cost of living pressures by providing concession cardholders with a discount off mains gas bills during the winter period (1 May to 31 October) of each year.

You are eligible for this rebate if you hold any of the below concession cards:

  • DVA Gold Card
  • Health Care Card (HCC)
  • Pensioner Concession Card (PCC)

What is the concession amount?

17.5%* off gas bills between 1 May – 31 October.

*Not applicable to the first $62.40

Contact Lumo Energy with your concession details to apply. If your total bills exceed $1523 for the year (between 1 May - 31 October), you will need to apply for the Excess Gas Concession

Electricity Transfer Fee Waiver

What is it?

Customers that are eligible for Electricity Transfer Fee Waiver will not have to pay the usual transfer fee to electricity retailers when there is a change of occupant at the property.

  • DVA Gold Card
  • Health Care Card (HCC)
  • Pensioner Concession Card (PCC)

Holders of a Health Care Card for Carer Allowance and Foster Care issued in the name of the child and holders of Veterans’ Affairs Gold Cards marked ‘Dependant’ are not eligible.
