Medical Energy Rebate

What is it 
What is it?

The Medical Energy Rebate is for customers who have an inability to self-regulate body temperature when exposed to extremes (hot or cold) of environmental temperatures. It is associated with certain medical conditions such as Parkinson's disease and Multiple Sclerosis. However, to be eligible for the Rebate a customer will require a separate diagnosis that they are unable to self-regulate their body temperature.

Low Income Household Rebate

The Low Income Household Rebate helps eligible NSW households to pay their energy bills.

  • Pensioner Concession Card (PCC)

Life Support Rebate

What is it 
What is it?

The Life Support Rebate assists with payment of electricity bills if someone living in the home is required to use approved energy-intensive equipment at home.

 Am I eligible
Am I eligible?

The following Life Support equipment is approved to receive this concession. You are not required to hold a concession card to be eligible.

Approved Equipment

  • Electric mobility devices for quadriplegics
  • Oxygen concentrators (FT)
  • Oxygen concentrators (PT)
  • Positive Airways Pressure Device (FT)
  • Positive Airways Pressure Device (PT)
  • Enteral feeding pump
  • External heart pump
  • Home dialysis
  • Phototherapy equipment
  • Total Parenteral Nutrition (pump)

Gas Energy Rebate

What is it?

This is a Gas Rebate to help eligible NSW households to pay their natural gas bills.

**The NSW government has recently introduced this concession effective 1 July 2015**

  • Residential: $90 (GST exclusive) per annum - valid from 1 July 2015

Family Energy Rebate

What is it 
What is it?

The Family Energy Rebate helps NSW family households with dependent children to cover the costs of their energy bills. It provides eligible households a credit on an energy bill if the household also qualifies for the Low Income Household Rebate.

Energy Blackout Rebate

What is it 
What is it?

Electricity customers in metropolitan areas may receive compensation from their energy supplier if they suffer more than four, 4-hour outages in a year, or any outage of longer than 12 hours.

Non-metropolitan customers may receive compensation from their energy supplier if they suffer more than four, 5-hour outages in a year, or any outage of longer than 18 hours.

An outage resulting from the following causes does not qualify for any rebate:

  • a shortfall of generation, a failure on the high voltage transmission network or following a request or direction from an emergency services organisation 
  • a planned interruption (eg for maintenance work)
  • an outage caused by a natural disaster, or severe thunderstorm or weather (defined standards are used)
  • an outage caused by third parties, such as a vehicle accident or vandalism.

Concession amount 

What is the concession amount?

  • In Metro areas – customers can receive an $80 rebate for blackouts if you suffer more than four, 4 hour outages in a year, or any outage of longer than 12 hours.
  • In non-Metro areas - customers can receive an $80 rebate for blackouts if you suffer more than four, 5 hour outages in a year, or any outage of longer than 18 hours.

The maximum rebate you can receive per year is $320.
