Rising Netball Stars Get Healthy With Vixens’ Emily Mannix
Melbourne Vixens recruit Emily Mannix has put players from the Mountain District Netball Association through fitness drills this week in preparation for Netball Victoria’s junior pathway tournament, the Association Championships starting this Sunday.
Emily brought snacks and shared her health and fitness tips with the rising stars to help them get the most out of themselves and the game they love. Mannix, who played in the Association Championships as a junior from the Bellarine District, now competes against some of the best netballer’s in the world.
Nutrition for elite athletes is vital to their success, and as a scholarship holder at the Victorian Institute of Sport, Mannix works closely with sports dietitians to find the right balance. Thanks to Lumo Energy, major partner of the Championships, Mannix can share her top health tips with up and coming netballers.
Netball Victoria’s Competitions Manager Angela Banbury said, “There’s more to netball than meets the eye. A netball player is a valuable member of any team, whether that is on the court during a game or off the court at school. Playing netball is a great way to push yourself and shoot goals while having fun and staying healthy.
We’re delighted to have Lumo Energy involved in the competition for another year sharing the commitment to health and fitness in the community and helping to grow the sport,” she said.
